Facebook is great for keeping up with friends and family who live out of town or for reconnecting with someone you haven’t seen in awhile. It’s also great for starting feuds and causing yourself to ask, “Why the heck am I friends with you?”
If you find yourself doing any of the following on your personal account you must stop immediately! Seriously, if you don’t stop you may spread this bad behavior to others and soon Facebook will end up like MySpace. You know it was annoying users that killed MySpace right? Well, now you do.
Hold Your Phone Incorrectly When Recording Video
I moved this annoying trend to the top because if you only read this far at least I did my part to stop this pandemic. This is becoming such a problem in our society that a PSA has been made about Vertical Video Syndrome. Please watch this video and help save humanity.
Lame Status Updates
This section could be an entire post by itself so I’ll try to condense it to the worst kinds of updates.
Talking Trash In Generalities
“I hate when some people claim to be your friend but then spread lies about you behind your back. So Fake!” This kind of status is usually followed with comments from people “in the know” and slightly more direct bashing continues. Congratulations, you are now talking trash on them behind their backs and you’ve upgraded to being a hypocrite.
Rant About Religion Or Politics
Why are you looking for a fight on Facebook? All this does is remind everyone why we don’t hang out with you in real life.
Fish For Compliments Or Sympathy
“This day sucks!” “I’m not sure about my new hair color.” “Really guy at WalMart, Really?” These updates do not make sense by themselves. They were intentionally written for someone to ask questions in the comments. Thus encouraging encouragement, compliments, or sympathy. This tactic is unacceptable and if you see it being done ignore it or tell them to call their mom.
Invite Everyone To Every Event You Create
Oh what’s that? You’re a real estate agent now and you’re having an open house for the 10th time this week? Stop inviting me!
If you create an event DO NOT invite every single one of your Facebook friends. Take the minute to go through the check list and only invite the people who may actually want to attend your event. These are your Facebook friends, be friendly.
Along these lines are invites to use apps. I don’t want to play Farming Diamond Bubble StupidVille. Stop asking.
