blog to keep your site fresh

When you grocery shop do you pick the old nasty rotting vegetables or the new fresh stuff? Search engines are just like you, they prefer fresh and new over old and stale.

Blogging is a great way to keep your website updated with fresh content. A study by HubSpot showed that sites that blogged had 55% more traffic on average than those which did not.

What is a blog?

Blogs provide a great reason for visitors to frequently visit your site. The world blog is a blending of the words web and log. Think diary or journal. Blogs display content by means of posts. Each post is like it’s own page with text, images and video. A blog roll displays your posts, usually in reverse chronological order, in short excerpts and users can select which post they would like to read. The word blog can also be used as a verb. When you are creating content you are said to be blogging.

What do I put on my blog?

You can put whatever you’d like on your blog but to get the most out of your efforts you should use a little strategy. Ask yourself what your clientele would be interested in. Announcements, educational resources, interviews, anything about you or your business that people may be interested in. I tend to favor how-to or educational posts. Images and video are popular and engaging. If you are just starting out with blogging don’t worry, short and simple posts are actually very effective. Why a Digital Marketing Audit Is Important

Conducting a routine digital marketing audit will help you distinguish which specific initiatives are serving you and which ones require a different approach. It would be hard to know where your efforts could use a tune-up—or complete redirection for the sake of your ROI—if you do not frequently perform these checkups. Regular reviews are great for creating positive change, seeing what’s working and what is not, and bolstering the weaker areas of your digital marketing strategy.
