The new iPhone 5 is pretty cool. Faster processor, faster internet connection, improved camera and a larger screen size. All of these things make it a better iPhone, but can it make you a better blogger? Let’s take a look at mobile blogging for a minute.
Why Use An iPhone For Blogging?
Perhaps the most important reason is because your phone is with you all the time. This gives you more opportunities to blog than if you only used your computer. Do you take public transportation? Have you ever waited at the Dr.’s office? Do you stand in the ridiculously long line at Chipotle? OMG the DMV! These are all times when you probably already have your phone out anyway. Turn off Angry Birds and Words With Friends and take this opportunity to get some blogging done. You have internet, a camera, and if you don’t already you will soon, the WordPress app for iOS.
WordPress App
The WordPress App is available for free in the App Store. It is also available for the iPad (I recommend this). It is a very handy tool and if you have a WordPress powered website it is a must.
You can do all of the WordPress essentials. Create and edit posts and pages, add and edit tags or titles, insert images and add links, preview your page or post, and interact with comments. Setting up the app is as simple as logging into your WordPress Dashboard.
How I Use It
Spoiler: I don’t create full posts from the WordPress app. I have while on vacation but for the most part I prefer polishing up the final post on a computer. So why do I recommend the WordPress app for your iPhone?
Drafts
I create quick drafts of post ideas whenever and wherever the idea hits me. I’ll type in quotes or points of interest on the iPhone. It gives me a chance to outline the post and take get the bulk of the writing done. and I can always come back and write more if it strikes me, no matter where I am. Then I can polish it up on the computer and create my featured image with Photoshop or Gimp.
