Any blogger knows the value of an image manipulation program such as Photoshop for customizing or resizing images and such. Even casual bloggers end up needing MS Paint once in a while. (Please do not use MS Paint)
GIMP has long been one of my favorite programs for several reasons.
- Cross-Platform (Windows, OSX, Linux)
- Powerful (Many common features found in Photoshop)
- FREE (Awesome)
And we have even blogged about it’s uses a few times.

With GIMP’s new update things are even better for Mac users. GIMP is now a native application and no longer requires the use of X11. This is great for most Mac users because many do not even know what X11 is.
What this ultimately means is that installing GIMP on a Mac is now as simple as installing anything else. Just download the .dmg file, open it, and drag GIMP to your Applications folder. Done!
